3 Things up front

  • What’s worth doing?
  • What are we creating?
  • What value does it provide?

Define Unique Selling Point

3 Kinds of requirements — things people:

  • Say what they need
  • Actually need
  • Don’t know they need

Exercise — smart project scoping

The Buy-a-feature game:

list 30 features

  • features suggested by users
  • features suggested by your client
  • features that have been implemented by competitors

features should be user-focused, not tech-words.

  1. Create a list of website features.
  2. Assign a price to each feature.
  3. Create feature cards.
  4. Give each player a budget.
  5. The game continues until all money is spent.

Exercise: Identifying Content Workflows

Ask questions of content stakeholders, who will be responsible for creating the contents and who can approve it?

Information Architecture

  • organization schemes and structures
  • labeling systems
  • navigation systems
  • search systems

Site Map

this is not recommended if the sturcture of the website is too large.

Testing

  • what are the most popular devices they use?
  • what OS/browser combinations are most popular?
  • what connection speed they have?
  • how tech-savvy is your demographic? TA
